As more of us look for ways to save money and reduce our impact on the environment, cycling is becoming more poular. Norwich has several designated cycling routes and 10% of it's residents now cycle to work - a figure well above the national average of just 3%.

This month a City Council Executive agreed to investigate ways to fund a cycle hire scheme for the city, an idea put forward by Judith Lubbock, the Eaton Liberal Democrat City Councillor. The project would mean that people can pick up and drop off bikes at various locations in the city, and payment would be on a pay as you use basis. It is hoped that it would help tackle the problems with congestion and climate change.
